For over 20 years, The Drikung Meditation Center has offered Tibetan Buddhist teachings, practices and retreats to all levels of spiritual practitioners - from curious beginner to experienced meditator - right here in the Boston area.. 

 

We are home to the only emanation replica of the sacred Jowo Rinpoche statue outside of the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa Tibet! The Jowo statue is considered a living Buddha, a very holy object of immense beauty and profound blessings. Wonderful News: A New Center!

 

The Drikung Meditation Center is now also home to the US Jokhang Temple! We have obtained a mortgage on a property in Danvers, MA!

 

This was only possible due to the enormous generosity of the community and everyone's profound merit and aspirations. Emaho! Lama Sonam's longtime dream of establishing a Jokhang Temple here in the US is one very large step closer to fruition!

The Capital Campaign -  5 Year Plan.

 

While this momentous occasion is most definitely a cause for celebration we will continue to work together as a community to pay off the balance owed in the 5 year window before the interest rate increases. Therefore we have introduced the Capital Campaign to meet this goal. We are currently in year 3 of this 5 year plan and on track to meet our goal!

Healing Chod Ceremony

The Healing Chod is a special practice for those who are experiencing illness. It is particularly beneficial for stress related illness and obstacles to our health. This Prajnparamita wisdom teaching lineage originates with the 11th century realised yogini, Machig Labdron. It is a profound dharma passed to us from the founder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage, Jigten Sumgon in the form of the Kusali (mendicant) Chod text.

This ceremony requires no special prerequisites as Drupon la will do the practice on our behalf as we meditate or merely hold a receptive state of mind. As with all Mahayana practices it is done with bodhicitta, the mind that seeks to benefit all beings equal to space.

Shamatha Meditation and
Yoga of Mindful Movement Retreat

We are delighted to welcome Drupon Pakyi o n her first North American teaching tour. She joins u s from the Drikung Garchen Institute in Munich Germany where she has served as a resident teacher for10 years where she benefits many with her wisdom and compassion.  Drupon has done extensive practice and training and has served as the chant master at Samtenling at Jangchubling in Dhera Dun. A brief verson of her biography can be viewed HERE.

During this special retreat, she will begin each day leading us one the yoga of mindful movement followed by training in the classical methods of calming the mind known as Shamatha.
